Service Description

Founder of Pilates; Joseph Pilates "Breathing is the first act of life and the last, fitness is connected to emotion." Every class at BodyUpWomen we incorporate our breathing with our movements to fully connect with our bodies and move with them. What is Pilates? Pilates is a form of low-impact exercises that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Pilates moves tend to target and strengthen the core. In Pilates, the pelvic floor muscles are a natural muscular support when doing abdominal and core exercises. With a stronger abdomen, comes a stronger pelvic floor which helps the muscles that control your bladder. "Pilates is a full body exercise method that will help you do everything better." - Sonja Herbet; a Pilates instructor and founder of Black Girls Pilates. She continued to tell SELF "It strengthens and stabilizes your core body, which is your foundation, so that you can move efficiently while improving your posture, flexibility and mobility.
